MORE ST PATRICK'S DAY RECIPES THAN YOU CAN SHAKE A STICK AT.
Seriously, here we are in 2021 and I cannot believe it's 9 years since I first published these recipes for 24 hours of Paddy's Day celebrations. I could, I suppose, wait until next year and do a "10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY' article but if this pandemic has taught us anything it's that you just don't know what's around the corner and next year I could be (gulp) celebrating on another distant island, sitting under dappled shade sipping a whiskey sour and counting my lottery winnings. Possible (not likely though, eh?) so grabbing the keyboards with both fingers I've decided to re-release the recipes again. Ná habair é!
Breakfast
Fresh brown soda bread with lashings of Kerrygold.
Honey, marmalade or jam, what's your choice?
First up, breakfast for the day ahead. Brown Soda Bread. The full article with my witty words and recipe can be found here but if you're cutting to the chase you can DOWNLOAD a pdf to print off and follow here. Yes I am that kind.
LUNCH
It's green, it's fresh, it's not strictly traditional but it could be!
Hazelnuts are traditional though.
Next lunch, Cashel Blue, Pear, Spinach & Hazlenuts Salad. Something green, something Irish and some fruit because, y'know, one of 5-A-Day etc etc. Plus some of you out there are probably sitting in sunshine and hoping to cool down!
More witty words and recipe here and the FABULOUS DOWNLOAD version here.
DINNER
Creamy dreamy cabbage with lovely, lovely bacon.
Buttery spuds and a whiskey sauce, you can't say no. Go-wan, go-wan, go-wan.
The MAIN MEAL. Bacon & Creamy Cabbage with Whiskey Sauce. You heard. Not just B&C, this is Ailbhe's B&C and it comes with an added bonus of WHISKEY SAUCE. Not only gawguss poured over the bacon but pour it over ice cream and yes, yes, yes as that lady said in that filum (btw have you bought Niamh Shields @eatlikeagirl new cook book "Bacon; The Cook Book"? Well, you should 'cos that's just bursting with bacon recipes! Plus it looks joyful, see here).
Anyway, again my terribly witty words on St Patrick's Day with recipe etc here but cut straight to the chase and DOWNLOAD the illustrated recipe pdf here.
THE MORNING AFTER
Oops, aye, you did it again! Never fear, farls are here.
Slap on some butter, squeeze in some black pudding & a fried egg or just add some blueberries to the dough mix. Yum.
